The Color Project #StyledbyBriaVanCooten

The Color project is something I have been working on for about two months. I woke up one morning and saw a vision of people of color wearing color. A feeling came over me that I had to execute this. I haven't been getting hired for much styling opportunities because of covid and what better way to promote my work, than to create my own opportunity. I started to think about the outfits that I wanted to create and then I thought about the models that I wanted to hire to be apart of this project. I knew right away who I wanted and then pieces of different clothing options started to pop into my head. My vision and intuition is always clear and concise.

I then started to see a vision of a video idea pop into my mind coinciding with the outfits for the photos. I then started to jot down a video treatment I saw in my head(Follow me on IG to see the full video). This led me to open my Logic app on my MacBook and start to create a song that went with the visual I saw in my head. The vision of this project was so clear and concise, that I knew I made the right decision to focus 100% on dreams of being a full time stylist.

My next vision was of me being the photographer and videographer because who better to capture my vision than me. I have been perfecting my camera skills over the years of filming my own videos and taking my own photos. So, this was my time to shine baby lol

A couple weeks before the shoot I decided to ask my brother to come along and be my assistant. He is also a pretty good photographer so he came help me when I'm getting someone dressed or changed. One of the best decisions I made because it definitely helped with time management of the studio I got for the shoot.

Then, the day of the shoot came and everything went perfect, my vision came to life and I was so happy.

Over the past week and half I have been in editor mode, editing photos and the video, of course.

I am happy and proud of my work. When you look at the vision you saw in your head, it is a great feeling.
